Robert James Herman, 82 passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Prairie Senior Cottages in Albert Lea, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. A visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service at the church and from 4-6PM Thursday, June 6 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Pastor Trish Reedstrum will be officiating.
Robert was born on May, 24, 1942 to Edward and Frances (Staloch) Herman in Mankato, MN. He grew up in the Alden/Freeborn area, and graduated from Freeborn High School. On October 1, 1983 he married the love of his life Candice Gold. Robert worked at Wilson Foods and Farmstead and after retirement, he kept himself busy by working part time at the Mayo Clinic and also for First Lutheran Church.
In his spare time, Robert loved to enjoy the outdoors. He was fond of fishing with his brothers and friends, and also enjoyed hunting. He gave back to the community by teaching confirmation classes, and ushering at the church. He was a hard working man, who loved to help others with their projects. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and visiting with friends.
Robert is survived in death by his wife Candice; children Jennifer (Steve) Field, Michelle (Eric) Battle, Justin (Aracely) Johnson, and Amanda (Jon) Olson; grandchildren Morgan (Dillon) Benz, Chelsey (Jack) O’Brien, Andrew Field, Ethan Battle, Cierra (Mitch) Millhouse, Esteban Johnson, Esperanza Johnson, Thorin, Viggo, Solvei, Roric and Rainor Olson; great-grandchildren Beckett Benz, Archer and Indy Millhouse; brothers Bill (Joan) Herman and Mike (Ann) Herman; sister-in-law Trudy (Scott) Adams, brothers-in-law John (JoAnne) Gold, Jim (Karen) Gold, and Joe (Shelly) Gold; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Frances; brothers Gerald and Francis; niece Heather; nephew Jacob; father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Rose Gold.
