Obituary For Robert Dean Hesselink

Robert "Bob" Dean Hesselink, age 72 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Bob was born on April 4, 1953 in Cadillac to Gerrit and Helen (Dunbar) Hesselink. On August 2, 1980 he entered into marriage with Lori Dykstra in Jackson, MI.

Bob was an attendee of Highland Christian Reformed Church in Marion. He was an avid outdoorsman, and took pleasure in many outdoor activities such as, woodworking, farming, running his sawmill, making maple syrup, hunting and fishing, Bob was a jack of all trades.

He is survived by his wife Lori Hesselink of Marion, children Adam (Molly) and Bethany Hesselink both of Byron Center, granddaughters, Sophie and Billie, siblings LD (Ellen) Hesselink of Marion, Bev (John) Orvis of Marion, Sue (Don) Peterson of Cadillac, Connie Hesselink of Marion, Greg (Laura) Hesselink of Marion, in-laws Gayl (Brad) Kessel of Grand Rapids, Mark (Danell) Dykstra of Houston, TX, special friends Randy Gilde, Don Ryan, Larry Kirt, Paul Yowell and Ryan Meadows.

A celebration gathering will be held at the Highland Christian Reformed Church on September 19, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan or the family. A special thanks to Hospice of Michigan's Tammy Hoekwater and Arrisa Brown for the wonderful care they gave.
