Robert "Bob" James Hezlep, age 77, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Originally born in Cincinnati, OH, Bob and Linda raised their family in Walkersville, MD, and moved to Mount Dora in 2009. Bob was a distinguished Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for 25 years. His dedication extended beyond his military service; he was an active member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Dora, contributing to his community with unwavering commitment. In recent years, despite his health issues, he made it his mission to travel as much possible, for as long as possible, checking off bucket-list destinations. In the last two years alone, Bob and Linda visited the Panama Canal, Rome, Spain, France, Greece, Hawaii, Alaska, and Cozumel…to name a few. Above all else, Bob was a devoted, loving husband and father. He will be remembered for his eternal optimism and positive outlook on life. He leaves behind a loving family including his wife of 44 years, Linda Hezlep of Mount Dora, FL; son, Kevin (Sarah) Self of Harleysville, PA; and three daughters, Amy (John) Walker of Carrollton, GA; Heather Mehl of Rochester, MI; and Janelle (Joel) Martin of Richmond, VA. Bob was also a cherished brother to Sam Hezlep of Germantown, TN, and Rick Hezlep of Grayson, GA, as well as a beloved brother to Becky Hill of Grayson, GA, and Nancy Smith of Royal Oak, MI. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Ethan, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Everett, Lillian, Jude, and Caleb. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Dora, FL, on November 9 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the church.
