Lucas Funeral Home - GrapevineRobert Dean “Bob” Higley, age 72, a resident of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on May 14, 1953, in Flint, Michigan, to Robert J. Higley and Virginia Jo Hughes. He spent his early years growing up in Flint, Michigan; Salecreek, Tennessee; and Detroit, Michigan. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sienna Heights University.
Bob proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he worked as a medic, caring for others with compassion and skill—qualities that defined his life well beyond his military service.
For over 45 years, Bob worked in Christian media and television, including 27 years at TBN, playing a meaningful role in helping grow and expand Christian broadcasting around the world. His work was not just a career, but a calling. He was deeply committed to his Christian faith and passionate about spreading the message of hope in Jesus Christ through media, always thinking of new ways to support, promote, and strengthen Christian media’s global outreach.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Joan Higley, for over 48 years. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and service. He is survived by his wife Joan; his children Melissa Marshall and her husband Benn, Jason Higley and his wife Angelique, and Michelle Reed and her husband Trevor; and his cherished grandchildren Kelsey Bloch, Jude Reed, Everett Reed, Beck Marshall, Zoe Reed, Kai Reed, Isaac Reed, Audrey Higley, and Luke Higley.
He is also survived by his brothers Randy Higley, Guy Miotke, Mike Miotke, and John Miotke, his sisters Tracy Hurst, Fetta Gilbert, Kellie Jones, and Claudia Brooks, and his aunt Fran Lantz. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Steve Higley.
Outside of his professional and ministry work, Bob found great joy in music as an avid guitar player, and he was a proud Jeep enthusiast. Above all, he will be remembered as a man who deeply loved his family, cared for his friends, and was always looking for ways to help others. His legacy of faith, service, and generosity will continue to live on through all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bob Higley will be held on February 21, 2026, at Lucas Funeral Home – Grapevine, located at 700 West Wall Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m., all at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s name to one of the following organizations: Operation Care International (Click Here Donate to Operation Care), where Bob served as an Advisory Board member for many years and was deeply passionate about their mission to help those less fortunate, or Team Gleason (Click Here To Donate to Team Gleason), an organization close to Bob’s heart, inspired by Steve Gleason’s story and their impactful work supporting individuals and families affected by ALS.
