Robert Hillberry Obituary
Born Aug. 5, 1932, in Smithfield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert and Elsie Hayes Hillberry.
Robert had retired from Robinson Industries Fan Works in Harmony. He belonged to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler. He was a member of the John Mair Lodge No. 729 F&AM of Mars and the New Castle Consistory. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He belonged to the American Legion No. 117 of Butler and the Moose Lodge No. 64 of Butler. He will be most remembered as playing the city of Butler's Santa Claus for almost 40 years.
Surviving are his two daughters, Debra Turley and Beverly Hatfield, both of Branchland, W.Va.; his brother, Lewis Hillberry of Mannington, W.Va.; his sisters, Mary Williams of Zelienople, Thelma Coen of Mannington, W.Va. and Nita Watson of Mannington, W.Va. Also surviving are five grandchildren of Branchland, W.Va.; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, who passed away in 1987; and his second wife, Evelyn, who passed away in 2017; his brother, James Hillberry; his sister, Ethel Price; his sons-in-law, Earl E. Turley and Michael S. Hatfield; and his grandson, Dustin C. Turley.
HILLBERRY - Funeral arrangements for Robert L. Hillberry II, who died Wednesday, April 2, 2025, were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
Robert will be laid to rest privately at Pinewood Memorial Gardens.

My sweet veteran friend and neighbor Mr Hillberry will always be remembered by me as Mr holiday where he dressed in costume as he brought joy laughter & hugs along with his cheerful voice was truely like sunshine here at Park Manor where I was honored to have him for my neighbor & friend . Every holiday was celebrated with us looking forward to the next . I miss him so very much for no one can replace the light he brought through such a beautiful spirit . rest in sweet peace Mr Hillberry and as always ...I thank you for your service

I´m so sorry for your loss. Mr. Hillberry and I jokingly greeted each other on his visits to the VA with our similar last names. He would call out "Hockenberry" and I would respond "Hillberry"! I always looked forward to seeing him and being greeted with a smile.

I am so saddened to hear of Bobs passing! He was a great friend of my dad, Don Frederick and one of the nicest guys I have had the pleasure of meeting! After my dad passed, every time Bob saw me he had a big hug for me! I will miss that! He will be missed! May you rest in peace Bob!

Bob will always be remembered as a good friend and neighbor. He always had a big smile, a joke and of course his wonderful bear hugs. His kindness and love will be remembered always. He will be missed greatly.
