Robert "Bob" Hluhanich passed away on May 1, 2025 at the age of 77. Bob was born on March 28, 1948 in Manhattan, New York to the late William and Catherine Hluhanich.
A proud veteran, Bob served his country honorably as a mechanic in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bob was stationed in both Vietnam and Korea, where he sustained injuries from a mortar attack on the flight line in an attempt to ground the F-4 fighter jets he was responsible for maintaining.
As a loving father, Bob actively participated in the PTA of his children's elementary school. Bob played Santa Claus for numerous years at Radix Elementary, much to the delight of his children and the other students. He could be found in the bleachers or sidelines cheering his kids on in their chosen sports. Later, he loved watching his grandchildren on the soccer field.
Bob taught his children that doing the right thing was more important than doing the profitable thing. Bob embodied this during his years as a Prudential insurance agent where he emphasized the needs of the family at the risk of losing the sale. He was able to teach perseverance and teamwork by including his family in his business endeavors.
In his free time Bob had a passion for skydiving and went on three jumps. He also enjoyed reading and was rarely seen without a book.
Bob gave back to his community by helping those in need. Fondly known as Mr. Fix-it, Bob always had his toolbox ready for anyone who needed help. He was always willing to use his mechanical abilities to help others. Bob would even find bicycles and refurbish them for children without one.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoEllen; his son Scott Hluhanich; his daughter Joy (Steve) Berry and his four beloved grandchildren Christian, Katie, Andrew and Hope.
