Robert A. Hoffman

Robert A. Hoffman, son of Daisy and Amos Hoffman, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at 5:45 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. At his side were his daughter, Dale Hoffman-Hasick, and son-in-law, Scott Hasick, of Denver, Colorado. He was 83 years old.

Born on October 5, 1941, Robert attended local, private, and trade schools. From an early age, he developed a fascination with printing. At age 12, after receiving a toy printing press for Christmas, he began exploring the craft. By 1955, he had purchased a small hand press and launched a print shop in the basement of his parents' home on Carteret Avenue. His passion became a lifelong career.

In 1967, Robert and his wife Helen purchased the Carteret News, and in 1969 they expanded the business by acquiring a building on Washington Avenue, where Hoffman Printing served the community until 2004. Bob and Helen shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary on January 30, 2025, just weeks before Helen's passing on March 31, 2025.

Bob was active in his community throughout his life. He achieved the rank of Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 82 and later served as an assistant scoutmaster. He was a proud Jaycee, a member of the National Business Forms Association, the National Association of Printers and Lithographers, and an emeritus member of the Carteret Honorary P.B.A. Over the years, the P.B.A. honored him with multiple recognitions, including a Silver Life Member Award and, most recently, the Andrew J. Hila Community Service Award on April 26, 2025.

A devoted member of the Carteret and Woodbridge Presbyterian Churches, Bob served as a church elder and lent his voice to the choirs for many years.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Dale Hoffman-Hasick, of Denver, Colorado, and his son-in-law, Scott Hasick.
