Robert "Bob" Martin Hoffmann
Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, and More Papa, entered eternal rest at the age of 81, on August 15, 2013, at Suncoast Hospice Woodside, where he received compassionate care in his final days.
Bob was born August 25, 1931 in Irvington, NJ. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and in the Reserves for 3 years. He married his loving bride, Mickey, in 1953. They moved to Florida where they bought their home. In later years he built on a massive addition with his own two hands, block by block. Later he added on a sunroom, his favorite room in the house. He loved to sit there with his wife Mickey and his cat Blackie and watch the birds, squirrels, and ducks through the big windows.
Bob was a chef at The Pelican Diner on St. Pete beach for many years and later the baker at the GE Plant. He loved to cook and take care of his family. He proved it every holiday when he prepared a feast for sometimes as many as twenty one or more family members. No holiday would be complete without, "a slice or two of heaven", his banana cream pie. His dressing was another family favorite, on Easter his Pizza Gran was a special treat, and who could forget his cannolies. No one ever left his home hungry because he wouldn't let anyone have just one serving of anything. He would always say, "Here have some more." as he put an extra serving on your plate.
Bob was a loving, caring man who always greeted you with a firm handshake, a hug and a kiss, or a combination of both. He was a jokester and a real Mr. Fix It. There was nothing he couldn't fix and no task too great. Our family and friends have lost a dear man. He will forever be loved and missed.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Michaelina "Mickey" Hoffmann; two sons, Bob and Tom Hoffmann; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Hoffmann; five grandchildren along with their spouses, Kimberly and Frankie Hall, Christina and Greg McCullough, Robby and Heidi Hoffmann, Thomas and Jaimie Hoffmann, Tony and Heather Hoffmann; seven great grandchildren, Bailey, Daimon, Danielle, Chris, Caleb, Cayden, and Tyson; and many other family and friends.
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.
