Robert Daniel “Danny” Hollingshead, age 75, of New Albany, PA, passed away peacefully, with his longtime partner and best friend, Peter Bryan by his side on early Monday morning, June 30, 2025, at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA, after a brief illness.
Robert was better known as “Dan” or “Danny” by his family and friends. He was born in Huntingdon, PA, on March 11, 1950, a son of the late David Mitchell and Twila Mae McEwen Hollingshead.
Dan graduated from Huntingdon High School as a member of the class of 1969. He furthered his education at Williamsport Area Community College, in conjunction with Golden Gate University graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was employed as an Electrical Engineer at the Bechtel Nuclear Power Plant in Berwick, PA, and later for Henkels & McCoy out of York, PA.
Dan lived in the Hobbie, PA, area for several years with his former wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Rinehimer Hollingshead. He later relocated to New Albany, PA, where he lived with his partner Peter Bryan. In June of 2008, he suffered a major stroke which left him disabled. Pete was Dan’s caregiver for 17 years, giving him the best possible life he could have. Recently after declining health, Dan had moved to the Highlands Care Center in Laporte.
Danny enjoyed music, attending fairs and farm shows. His greatest joy was old time tractors and his yearly visit to his hometown Huntingdon County Fair.
Dan was an active member of the New Albany Baptist Church, and regularly attended church with Pete and Pete’s mother, Marilyn Bryan.
