It is with our deepest sadness we announce the passing of Robert Hood. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was a kind, resilient, funny and loving person. Robert was always willing to help anyone no matter what the problem; home, car, financial, or personal.
Robert was born in Mount Vernon, NY, to Hugh and Evelyn. After growing up in Mineola, NY, with his sister Lizabeth and brother Billy, he enlisted in the Navy where he served 3 years on a nuclear submarine and earned an associate’s degree in architecture. Robert worked for Entenmann’s for 14 years before starting his careers as an architect and construction supervisor. Robert was always our Bob the Builder. Not only did he love spending time with his loved ones, he also enjoyed working on his model trains, planes and boats. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Giovanna, his three sons, Michael, Robert and Chris as well as his daughter in law Kristy, his daughter Linda, his grandkids Kristin and her fiancé Francis Morris, Alastor and Logan as well as his great grandchildren Delaney and Frankie Morris. Robert is predeceased by his brother in law Al Arrighi but survived by Al’s wife Connie. He is also survived by his brother in law Thomas Arrighi and his wife Mary as well as his many nieces and nephews. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Lizabeth and William (Billy). He is loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Robert approached life much like Edgar Albert Guest expressed; “When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all uphill, when the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile but you have to sigh, when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must, but don't you quit.”
