Robert Lee Hubbard

Robert Lee "Lester" Hubbard, 98, a resident of Sophia, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on December 13, 2025. He was born on February 2, 1927, in Jamestown, North Carolina, to the late John and Ada Hubbard.

Lester was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by hard work, laughter, and a genuine love for people. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie Mae Bowers Hubbard, who passed away in 2010, and by his son Ronnie Lee Hubbard who passed away in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Glenn, Kenneth, and Wilma.

He is survived by his children: Brenda Wagner and her husband, Jeff; Linda Gray; Diane Rich and her husband, Don; and Bobby Hubbard and his wife, Sharon. He is also survived by his sister, Florence, along with 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Mr. Hubbard retired from the Coca-Cola Company after 37 years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his career and was a highly respected employee, earning numerous awards as a top salesman throughout his tenure. His strong work ethic and friendly nature made him well known and admired by coworkers and customers alike.

Known for his great sense of humor and outgoing personality, Lester truly never met a stranger. As his daughter lovingly said, "To know him was to love him." He enjoyed staying active and competitive, winning many awards over the years in bowling, golf, pool, and baseball. He also had a deep love for deep-sea fishing and cherished the time spent on the water.

For many years, Mr. Hubbard was a faithful member and regular attender of Sophia Baptist Church in Sophia, North Carolina, where he found fellowship and spiritual strength.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, North Carolina, with Dr. Keith Letterman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Robert Lee "Lester" Hubbard will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he shared so freely with everyone he met. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.
