January 29, 1944 – January 9, 2026

Robert Louis Hudson Sr., 81, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. Born on January 29, 1944, in Orlando, Florida, to proud parents Lonnie and Ruth (Murphy) Hudson, Robert lived a life rooted deeply in Central Florida's heartland.

A dedicated patriot, Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965, where he honed the discipline and leadership that would define his career.

Robert's greatest legacy shines brightest in the family he built and cherished. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Sandra Hudson, the partner who stood by his side through every adventure and challenge. He leaves behind his daughter, Sharyn Hudson; son, Robert (Elizabeth) Hudson Jr.; his sister Bonita Martin and stepsons Michael (Claudia) Waite, Jim (Donna) Waite, Allen (Shamayne) Waite, Joel (Mary Jo) Waite, and Jason (Renee) Waite. Robert's love extended to his many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, whom he adored with boundless energy.

Though his heart was full, Robert was preceded in death by sons, Mark Hudson and Paul Hudson; sister, Merle Levinsky; brothers, Lloyd Hudson and Carl Hudson and grandson Samuel Morgan.

Robert Louis Hudson Sr. was a man of service-to his country, his community, his church, and above all, his family. His life was a testament to hard work, faith, and fierce loyalty, leaving an enduring impact on all who knew him.

A gathering with viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 East Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, FL 32778. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Select Specialty Hospital in The Villages.

The family will hold a private graveside service to celebrate Robert's life intimately.

Rest in peace, Bob-Go Gators!
