Robert Hughes Obituary

Bob Hughes, 79 of Longneck, Delaware passed away on February 24, 2026. Born on January 20, 1947 in Utica, New York, he was a devoted husband to Bonnie and a loving father to son Rob and daughter in law Sarah and daughter Sheila, and Grandfather to Derek and Hayley. Bob served honorably in the United States Navy and his service was something of which he was very proud.

Bob was a talented athlete. As a young man he played football and baseball along with being a member of the Ski Patrol. His love for baseball continued as he coached his son's American Legion baseball team for many years. Later in life, Bob enjoyed playing golf at Baywood Greens. He also was an excellent shot on the pool table.

Bob was a consummate professional. His career started at IBM, and then Bob and his business partner Frank Parisi operated their business, Worlco Computer Resources, Inc. for 40 years. Bob enjoyed working this business with his son Rob as well. Bob was a charismatic leader. He was a mentor to many in the recruiting industry.

Bob was a big personality. He could be the life of the party or the best friend you needed at any moment. He loved the water and boating. He found great joy in entertaining friends both on and off the water. He was a generous spirit who gave of his time, himself and his resources.

Above all else, Bob was a dedicated to his family-especially to his wife. Childhood sweethearts who met in eighth grade, Bob and Bonnie were married 53 years last October. Their love story is one of true partnership and respect. Bob was the best father supporting Rob and Sheila in every step of their lives He was particularly proud to be grandfather to Derek and Hayley-two more excellent athletes with the Hughes name.

Bob is survived by his wife Bonnie, his son Rob (Sarah), his daughter Sheila, his grandchildren Derek and Hayley, and his brothers Wayne and Bruce, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 13, 2026 at Melson's Funeral Home 32013 Long Neck Road, Long Neck DE 19966. Visiting hours between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm.

Bob's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories he helped create that will be cherished forever.
