It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Kelly Hunley (Bob), a beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend, who departed from this world on September 10, 2023, at the age of 74 surrounded by the love of his family.
Bob was born on March 7, 1949, in Pulaski Virginia to Everett Clifton Hunley and Estelle Carrie Firebaugh.
As he grew, Bob cultivated a strong work ethic and an insatiable curiosity for the world around him. He pursued education with vigor, eventually achieving his associate degree in mechanical maintenance while serving his country in the United States Army for over 30 years working as part of the Army's Military Police and retired as a first sergeant. His pursuit of knowledge was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a member of the Chapter 710 motorcycle group in Gaylax Virginia as well as the American Veterans Motorcycle Club in
Bartlesville, OK.
Bob was a loving family man. He married the love of his life, Bonnie East, on February 14, 2014, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams until her passing on March 8, 2023. Bob was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie, his parents Everett and Estelle, and his siblings Jimmy, Kenny, Sherry, and Pat all of Virginia.
Throughout his life, he shared many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley Davidsons, fishing, and setting up hundreds of flags in his neighborhood around certain holidays. He embraced life with an infectious enthusiasm and sarcasm that brightened the lives of those around him.
Bob was a kind, compassionate, and generous soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His acts of kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. He was a valued member of Get Real Ministries and served his God and his church proudly.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and wisdom that will continue to guide and inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his children, Raymond and Elly Nyburg, Carrie and William Porta, Clifton and Alisha Hunley, Fallon Hunley and Harry Styles, and Doug and Haylee Hunley. His grandchildren Jacob, Maria, Frankie, Christopher, Dustin, Sierea, Stalina, Tavor, Hailey, Kaylynne, Jarrett, Micah, Savannah, Luca, Erika, Bailey, Jackson, and Atlas. And his great grandchildren Amari, Willow, and Shane.
Along with his loving family, he had a wide range of love and support from many friends including Danny Hapner whom was a great friend and caregiver in his final years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in which family and friends are invited to join together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
Rest in peace, dad. You will forever be missed and never forgotten.
