Robert Y. Ito
Robert Yoshiharu Ito, age 90, of Sacramento passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2025. He was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed.
Robert was born on August 2, 1935, to Nobuyoshi and Kazue Ito and raised in the Florin area. During World War II, he was interned in Jerome, Arkansas and Gila River, Arizona.
He graduated from Elk Grove High School and Greer Automotive Repair School in Chicago. From 1957 to 1959, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. In 1961, Robert married Norma Masuhara, his wife of 64 years. By trade, he was an auto mechanic and enjoyed serving his customers. He and his brother Edward operated Boulevard Motors in East Sacramento for 34 years.
Membership and volunteer activities included those with the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, Gedatsu Church USA, ACC Rides, and Sacramento Chrysanthemum Society. Hobbies included working in the garden and sharing fruits and vegetables with others.
Robert is predeceased by his parents; brother Louis; parents-in-law Ichiro and Shizuko Masuhara; sisters-in-law Shizue, Akiko, and Nancy; and brother-in-law Mike Nishio.
He is survived by his wife Norma; sons Stephen (Paula) and Ronald; grandsons Gregory and Thomas; brothers Edward and Jackson; sister Karen Nagao (Harry); and sisters-in-law Edna Onodera (Dilford), Amy Nishimura (Luther), and Aileen Nishio. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Robert’s medical staff and caregivers, who provided compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818.
