Robert Wayne Ivey

Robert Wayne Ivey, age 75, of Nixon, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Robert was born on November 29, 1949 in Gonzales County, Texas to Florene Odell (Brown) and Braxton Owen Ivey. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Robert was a life-long, long-distance truck driver where he drove through 49 states, always wearing his Marine Corps cap and greeting everyone with a smile on his face. He was blessed to also visit Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his father, Braxton Owen Ivey and his brothers-in-law, Vernon May, Jeff Holmes and J. W. Whitfield.
Survivors include his children, Faye Laynette McKevitt and husband Brian, Robert Owen Ivey and wife Juliet, Barbara Carasco and husband Julien, and Andrew Ivey; grandchildren, Tyler, Brianna, Brodwyn, Laynette, Julie, Nichole, Amanda, Ashley, Robert Jacob, John Cameron, Allison and Alexis; great-granddaughter, Gabriella; mother, Florene Bauer; siblings, Shirley Whitfield, Elaine May, David Ivey, Kathy Wilson and husband Robert, Cindy Janysek and husband Richard, and Mary Holmes; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will begin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 6242 TX 97, Bebe, Texas 78614 followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow with military honors in the Caraway Cemetery nearby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Owen Holmes, Casey Ulrey, Jason May, Jon Dallas Thomas, Chris Thomas, Brian McKevitt, Tyler Hollis and Julie Ivey.
