Robert Jaques Obituary

Robert, who liked the nickname "Roberto," came into this world on June 19, 1978. His birth was a difficult one, and his chances of surviving were very low. But Robert was a strong boy and with much help from the doctors at the Stanford Neonatal Intensive Care Center, he was able to overcome the adversities and grew into the wonderful person that he was. Robert was a dear, dear person. . . very loving and caring, respectful, helping others, courteous. . . all of the things that a parent would hope for in their son. He brought incredible joy and happiness to his parents, Robert S. Jaques and Helen Jaye, and was loved by everyone who knew him. Robert worked for a number of years for Hope Services in Monterey on a janitorial crew at the Naval Postgraduate School. Before that, he worked as an office assistant and later did computer e-waste dismantling. Robert suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at UCSF Medical Center just before he was scheduled to be discharged following brain surgery in December. His mother and father were at his bedside. Despite the medical adversities he faced in his life, he remained upbeat and positive and served as an inspiration to many. His parents will hold a gathering to honor Robert at a future date. Dear Robert,
You are so very missed here at FNMOC! We first met more than 5 years ago when you came in to get your picture badge. Since then, I saw how kind and helpful you were to your Hope co-workers and how seriously you took the safety and security of FNMOC. I've spoken to so many people here who knew and appreciated you and your sense of humor. You will always remain in my memories as an intelligent, interesting, caring, and sweet young man.

Robert, you were a great guy. You made me laugh, you were someone I can talk to, and I have fond memories of the times we hang out together.
I'll always cherish the times we had spent together as buddies.

Your memory will be in my mind and heart, always.

Dear Robert,
I first came to know you through the eyes of my son, Jason, your devoted friend of over two decades. From there, a special bond formed between us, making me feel like my second- a role you´ll forever hold in my heart.

I fondly recall our trip to Florida for Jason`s rare disease meeting. Your inquisitive nature and eagerness to learn, your attentiveness to the doctors and lectures, and your genuine interest in meeting other children with Jason´s condition truly touched my heart. Your approach to life, filled with curiosity and desire to help others, spoke volumes about the incredible person you are.

Your courage on July 15, 2020, remains unforgettable. Calling me to express your concerns about Jason and urging me to come to Monterey immediately, was a testament to your strength and the depth of your care for him.

Throughout Jason's challenging 10 months, your frequent calls and recorded voicemails were a source of joy and comfort to him, especially during his final 17 days in the ICU.

Your speech at Jason´s funeral was profoundly moving, bringing an entire room to tears with its power and sincerity. I remember feeling immense pride when people "inquired about you allowing me the honor to introduce you as my second son. Now, I find solace in believing that you and Jason are together, continuing your journey in a place of peace and love. Your memory, your spirit, and the extra ordinary impact you had on our lives will be forever cherished.

With all my love and most profound remembrance Suzanne

I had the pleasure of meeting Robert and his father at Red's Donuts in downtown Monterey. This young man was always very friendly and very well mannered. Speaking with him and his father was always enjoyable and I was very impressed with this young man's positivity. My condolences to his parents for their loss as well as his many friends. Heaven will be blessed to receive such a wonderful person as a new angel. Rest in Peace Robert you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
