It was a joyous day on December 27,1950 when Robert Jodry Jr. was brought into this world. He was the first of seven children to his parents Robert and Denise Jodry. He was to be an only child until his brother Ed arrived two years later. That, according to Mom, is when the real adventures between the two of them began!
It wasn't until Robert, or Bobby as his family called him, turned about twenty-five that his true adventures in life began. Around 1977 Bobby moved into a group home in Rye N.Y. run by a relatively new non-profit known as WARC. It was here that the new and enthusiastic staff got to explore with Robert as to what were his likes and dislikes, his potential in life, and what things made him happy. Eventually he was enrolled in Educational Day Programs that he attended until he reached a point in life that many of us aspire to-retirement!
Over the years different staff came and went but many stayed for years and got to know Robbie really well. They, as well as the other long term residents of their home became his family as he grew old in an environment. of caring and love
In recent years the group moved together to a new residence in White Plains that was more easily navigated by this group of people getting older together. It is a wonderful place called Wyndover with a park nearby and everyone settled in nicely.
Robert, like any person, had his likes and dislikes. Change did not always suit him and it could take awhile for him to warm up to new people. He liked things that stimulated his senses such as fragrant colognes, and his various collections of plastic balls. He enjoyed going for walks, going to parks and taking rides in the car. He often enjoyed sitting by the window watching the cars go by. In the 50 years he lived in the group home he got to enjoy going on vacations, going out for meals and getting dressed up for special occasions. He especially liked it when his family came to visit and take him on outings.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Robert and Denise Jodry as well as his sister Denise Seemer. He is survived by his step-mom Patricia Jodry, his brothers Ed, Bill, Henry and George Jodry as well as his sister Margaret Shafran as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is also survived by his other family, the loving staff and fellow residents Scott, Walter, Michael and Carlton of his group home , the Wyndover residence. We will all miss you, our sweet brother.
