Robert Wayne John, 60 of Hope Mills, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in his home with family by his side.
Born on December 7, 1964, in Cumberland County, Robert was the son of the late Charles John and Carolyn Williams John.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly John; sons, Evan John and Lawrence John; children through marriage; Ann Marie Bishop and her husband Michael, Wayne Chandler III and wife Sera, and Matthew Chandler; grandson, Gabriel John; granddaughters through marriage, Aubrey Noelle Bishop and Madalyn Ruth Bishop; sister, Yvette Sutherland; brother, Brian Timothy John, canine companion, Rocky; and a host of other family members and friends.
Robert honorably served in the US Air Force for 10 years, achieving the rank of SSGT. During his military career, he earned several ribbons and medals reflecting his dedication to his country. His dedication remained evident in all tasks he faced throughout life.
Robert will be remembered as a loving and compassionate soul who would put other’s needs before his. He was a loving caretaker to his mother and brother, and was always behind the scenes doing for others, never requiring recognition or reciprocation for his kindness. His caring nature impacted numerous lives, including those of the many young men he mentored over the years. Most importantly, he made sure his family was safe and taken care of.
Robert will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.
