Robert V. Johnson

Robert Vernon Johnson, age 88, of Silver Springs, Nevada, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, a cherished grandfather, and a respected member of his community.

Born in Arizona to Milton David Johnson and Minnie Mae Boudinot Johnson, Robert was one of six siblings: Wilma, Milton, Richard, Albert, and Dennis. The family later relocated to Los Angeles, California, where Robert spent his formative years.

In 1958, Robert joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in Korea. Upon returning to Torrance, California, in 1961, he began building a family and a career in construction, often working alongside his brothers. Robert was known for his love of the outdoors, fishing, hiking, panning for gold, and for his enjoyment of card games.

A man of deep faith, Robert was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961 after meeting his first wife, Betty Doloris Graves. They shared 21 years of marriage until her passing in 1983. He later married Carolyn Hannig, with whom he spent 30 wonderful years before her passing in 2014.

Robert was actively involved in his community, serving as a member of the Lyon County Republican Central Committee and as an associate member of the Fernley Republican Women. He was deeply patriotic and valued his family and country above all else.

Known for his boundless generosity, wisdom, and unwavering support for those in need, Robert touched the lives of many. In his later years, he enjoyed attending community events, supporting charitable causes, and dancing whenever music is played.

Robert is survived by his children: Vida Darline Johnson-Keller (husband Scott), Mark Ralls (wife Jennifer), Jackie Thompson (husband Rick), and Tina Matzke; his grandchildren: Daniel Robert Randall (wife Jeana), Jennifer Darline Randall Barajas (husband Andres), Mark Ralls Jr., Jason Ralls (wife Jillian), Adam Ralls, Kimberly Van Tassel (husband Phil), James Thompson, Steven Thompson, Bianca, Ashley, and Jeremy; and his great-grandchildren: Haylei, Maliq, Jarael, Andrew, Aiden, Harvey, and Hazel. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Dennis Johnson, sister-in-law Vickie Pederson, and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Uncle Robert."

Robert's service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm with military honors at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Veterans Way Fernley

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations Robert supported: the Northern Nevada Veterans Coalition, the Lyon County Republican Central Committee, or the Fernley Republican Women.

Robert's legacy of kindness, integrity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
