Robert William Johnston, age 53, of Oak Harbor, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday (July 17, 2024) at his mother's home in Fremont, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 26, 1971 in Bowling Green, Ohio to John Johnston & Peggy (Edwards) Vaeyens. He has been with Donna Schiefel since 1997 and they married on May 31, 2003 in Erie, Michigan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 21 years Donna; father, John Johnston of Hubbard, Ohio; mother, Peggy (Ronald) Vaeyens of Fremont, Ohio; father-in-law, Frank Schiefel of Gwinn, Michigan; son, Huntter Johnston at home; daughter, Breeanna Johnston at home; sister, Michelle Wyatt of Fremont, Ohio; aunt's/uncle's, Kaye Holmes of Port Clinton, Ohio, Leona Quimby of East Liverpool, Ohio, Debra Fehse of Monroe, Michigan, Patricia Edwards of Stambaugh, Kentucky, Patricia (John) Young of Calcutta, Ohio, Jeanne Hupp of Midland, Pennsylvania, Michael Edwards of Bradner, Ohio; nieces/nephews, Samantha (Serenity) Wyatt, Alexandria (Nate) Hannah, Tyler (Celina) Wyatt, Noah (Michael) Wyatt; 4 great nephews; 2 great nieces and many many cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar & Rachael Vaeyens, Alvyn & Cecila Johnston; maternal grandparents, Dale & Ilene Edwards; mother-in-law, Kim Schiefel; uncle's, Nick Johnston, Rodney Hupp, Rick Fehse & Gary Holmes.
Robert was a 1989 Graduate of Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School in Groton, CT. He went into the union and became a Journeyman Painter. He then started his own painting company working for himself. He enjoyed fishing and bowling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Services for Robert will be private. Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio is helping his family with arrangements.
