In memory of

Lesley & Alex May
November 18, 2022
Bob was our neighbor and paddling buddy. Bob could always be counted on for an enthusiastic
conversation, a ride to the airport, taking in our trash cans, any kind of a quick favor, a fun outing and never passed up an opportunity for a text conversion. Bob was the friendliest person I've ever met and he loved everything about life. Bob generously gifted me a kayak that he no longer used and we enjoyed paddling together at every opportunity. We miss you Bob!

George and I met Bob through the Roadrunners motorcycle group and we quickly became kindered spirits. His love for life was so infectious, as was his huge heart and smile. It was always so much fun riding in the club together! I can't remember why he earned the nick-name 'Speed bump' but it may have resulted in him earning the Naked Roadrunner award. I remember he was also known as Pappa Smurf.
We lost touch for some time after we moved away, but when we moved back to CA, whenever I was in Woodland I would reach out to say hi.
Bob and I talked about hiking in Lassen Volcuanic PN together, as George and I only live 30 minutes away. When he sent me the text that he was in the hospital, his optimistic outlook led me to believe he would make it through surgery and we would get the opportunity to conquer Mt. Lassen. I had texted him a bunch of photos I took during that weekend up at Mt. Lassen's Manzanita Lake showing him some of the fall colors, and I am so glad he got to enjoy them while in the hospital.
When I heard of his passing, I was so devistated. I pray for you Wendy, Kathy and family that our Lord hold in his hands, the pieces of your shattered hearts and comfort your in your grief.

I first met Bob at a Roadrunners meeting. He was so nice and would always be the first to offer a helping hand. Always had a smile and a positive attitude.
