Robert Jordan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2022.
Robert Lloyd "Bob" Jordan passed away peacefully at Mercy General Hospital on November 3, 2022 after a decades-long battle with heart failure.

He was born January 3, 1952 to John "Jack" and Katherine "Kay" (Schultz) Jordan in Santa Rosa, California. He went to local Santa Rosa schools, participating in wrestling and track during high school. He moved to Woodland in the 1970s, where he graduated from nursing school at Yuba College. He worked as a nurse at many medical facilities throughout the area, including Woodland Memorial Hospital. His final job was in home-health nursing, where he took care of a child who became like family to him.

In spite of his various health challenges, he stayed very upbeat and active. He was one of those people who would strike up a friendly conversation with anybody and who always had a smile on his face. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the annual Father's Day camping trip to Lassen National Park with his kids. He also took pride in taking the long way home after a short errand on his motorcycle, as well as hiking, kayaking and bicycle riding. He loved animals and delighted in the fur babies that his children had adopted, most recently, a rescue puppy named Cosmo Topper, after Bob's first dog, Topper.

Bob is survived by his wife Wendy of 36 years, and his two children, Paul and Kathy (Jeff) Jordan. He is also survived by sisters Bea Crumbine and Vera Zeek, sister-in-law Janice Jordan, brother Dan Jordan and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kay Jordan, his brother, Jim Jordan and his sister, Casey Toney.

The family invites all who wish to pay their respects to Bob to do so at a Celebration of Life on November 18th at University Park Inn and Suites (1111 Richards Blvd. Davis, CA) from 5-8pm. To honor Bob's memory, there will be lots of delicious food and plenty of friendship and laughter.

The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and other staff at Mercy General Hospital who cared for Bob in his final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any memorial donations to be made to Karmic Rescue Without Borders (where Cosmo was adopted from), Leukemia And Lymphoma Society (as Bob was in remission after a battle with Multiple Myeloma), or the charity of their choice.

Bob was our neighbor and paddling buddy. Bob could always be counted on for an enthusiastic
conversation, a ride to the airport, taking in our trash cans, any kind of a quick favor, a fun outing and never passed up an opportunity for a text conversion. Bob was the friendliest person I've ever met and he loved everything about life. Bob generously gifted me a kayak that he no longer used and we enjoyed paddling together at every opportunity. We miss you Bob!

George and I met Bob through the Roadrunners motorcycle group and we quickly became kindered spirits. His love for life was so infectious, as was his huge heart and smile. It was always so much fun riding in the club together! I can't remember why he earned the nick-name 'Speed bump' but it may have resulted in him earning the Naked Roadrunner award. I remember he was also known as Pappa Smurf.
We lost touch for some time after we moved away, but when we moved back to CA, whenever I was in Woodland I would reach out to say hi.
Bob and I talked about hiking in Lassen Volcuanic PN together, as George and I only live 30 minutes away. When he sent me the text that he was in the hospital, his optimistic outlook led me to believe he would make it through surgery and we would get the opportunity to conquer Mt. Lassen. I had texted him a bunch of photos I took during that weekend up at Mt. Lassen's Manzanita Lake showing him some of the fall colors, and I am so glad he got to enjoy them while in the hospital.
When I heard of his passing, I was so devistated. I pray for you Wendy, Kathy and family that our Lord hold in his hands, the pieces of your shattered hearts and comfort your in your grief.
