Bob Jordan passed away peacefully at the Pines on Hilton Head Island, on May 16th, 2024. He was 95 years old.
Bob was born in Houston, Texas to Robert and Carol Jordan. He, along with his sister Mary Anne, grew up in La Grange, Illinois where Bob was a star athlete on the track team at Lions Township High School. Bob excelled in the 100- and 400-yard dash.
After graduating from high school, Bob enrolled in the Marine Corps at the end of World War II and completed Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC. After his time in the Marine Corps and taking classes at the University of Wisconsin, Bob entered the business world. Bob spent most of his career in the paper business as a Sales Manager for St. Regis Paper Company, and Great Northern Paper Company. He later became an Independent Paper Broker.
While working at St. Regis Paper Company, in Atlanta, Bob met and married Ethelyn Lee. Together they had 3 children. Bob was an avid golfer and swung his clubs until he was 91 years old.
Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Anne Wilson from La Grange, IL, his son Rob Jordan, and his girlfriend Julie Martin, his daughter Caroline Dolbey, and her husband Jerry of Hilton Head Island, SC and his daughter Mary Lynn Harper and her husband Scott of Bluffton, SC.
His children are planning a private Memorial service in the near future.
In the later part of his life here on Hilton Head Island, Bob greatly benefited from the services of Memory Matters, an organization that provides day programs for people with memory loss.
