Robert James (Bob) Kennedy, age 59, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in San Clemente, California on August 21, 2023.
Bob was born on November 1, 1963, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was the tenth born child of Virginia C. (Heckle) Kennedy and John (Jack) Joseph Kennedy. While Bob was the youngest of the Kennedy siblings, he is the first to be returned to his mother's loving arms in heaven.
Bob was educated at Cathedral Grade School and Griffin High School in Springfield, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, University of Illinois at Springfield, Arizona State University and Thunderbird School of Global Management where he received two Master's degrees, MBA's in International Business.
Upon graduating from ASU, Bob moved to Orange County California where he met the love of his life Marifel Pueblos. They wed in April 2005 and resided in San Clemente, raising two beautiful children in Nate and May. Bob spent the majority of his adult working career with United Health Care, most recently as Vice President of Purchasing, Prescription Solutions for Optum RX. Bob semi-retired in 2021 but continued as a consultant for CivicaScript RX, a non-profit organization that he was very proud to serve.
Bob was an avid reader that enjoyed reading numerous novels, but was especially interested in reading and always learning anything historical concerning both world and US history. Even though Bob left Illinois many years ago, he maintained a deep passion as an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals MLB team and University of Illinois Basketball.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marifel (Pueblos) Kennedy, son Nathaniel James (Nate) Kennedy and daughter May Lorraine Kennedy, of San Clemente. While Bob was preceded in death by both parents, he is survived by his nine siblings, including: Kristine (Kris) Fries of Springfield, IL; Timothy J (Tim) Kennedy (wife Cathy) of North Lake, TX; Janice (Jan) Darling
(husband Dave) of Williamsville, IL; Barbara (Barb) Lester (husband Mike) of Lincoln, IL; Bernadette (Bernie) Emery (husband Walt) of Springfield, IL; David Kennedy (wife Sandy) of Springfield, IL; Joyce Musselman (husband Rick) of Springfield, IL; Phillip (Phil) Kennedy of Springfield, IL; Patrick (Pat) Kennedy (wife Sheny) of Yorba Linda, CA;; and well over 50 nieces and nephews.

I first saw Bobby in the spring of 1964 when my mom and I picked up Phil for a kindergarten birthday party at Isles Park. Phil was already my buddy from school and I recognized his siblings Joyce, Dave, Barb, Bern, and Tim all in Cathedral at that time. Our moms visited while Phil and I jumped on the front room sofa and chair making funny faces and getting laughs from Bobby while Pat watched. Then, there were two more siblings Kris and Jan. From that point I figured out how to get to Phil's house from Isles Park and began sneaking across to the Kennedy house on weekends and summer vacation days until I didn't have to sneak, high school was finished and a few more years passed. I still laugh when I remember the silent fights between Bobby and Phil in the kitchen with magic markers while Jack was trying to sleep upstairs. In the end they would both be covered in magic marker but not a sound was made. Not a peep.
In the late 80's and early 90's Pat, Jay Miller, and I were living it out in Chicago. Bobby along with other Brothers Kennedy Tim and Dave and Phil made trips up visit Blues clubs and eat ethnic food. In 1992 just before I moved to Florida Pat, Tim, Bobby and I went to the Final Four in Minneapolis a had a blast. Knowing Bobby has been a bonus to my life.

As well as being a business success I will always remember Bobby for his fun-loving and affable nature. Always kind, light-hearted, and easy to talk to you he will be deeply missed. Our condolences to fellow friends and family during this difficult time.
