Robert Philip King, 74, was born in the Santa Fe hospital in La Junta, Colorado on April 4, 1951. He died at his home South of Swink on November 3, 2025.
Robert was the firstborn child of Robert C. and Lula Allean (Doughty) King and joined the family with their two adopted children, Kennard and Karlene. Later four more siblings, Esther, Craig, Hal, and Kirk, were added to the family.
Robert attended grades 1-12 at Swink School, graduating with the Class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from January 19, 1971 to January 19, 1973.
Robert had various occupations and started helping in wheat harvest during the summers of 1967 through 1969 when he was a teenager. He worked as a clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad, as a welder at Muth Welding Service, and had other Jobs in Alamosa, Pueblo, and Rocky Ford.
Robert enjoyed drawing and loved dogs. His beloved dog, Dakota, was his special companion and was with him in his final hours.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lula King, and brothers, Kennard, Craig, Hal, and Kirk.
He is survived by his son, Jody King; his grandson, Phillip King; his former wife, Jan King; his stepson, Eugene Bacon; his sisters, Karlene McKean and Esther Muth; his special nephew, Jeremy King; and sister-in-law, Susan King; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
