Robert Darr King Sr., 81, of Windham, CT, beloved husband of Lorraine Mary (Gray) King for 47 wonderful years of marriage, passed away peacefully at home, in the loving arms of his wife, on December 1, 2025.
He was born January 23, 1944 in Dover, NH to the late Harry and Velma (Brennan) King. He attended and graduated Rockville High School in Rockville, CT.
He is retired from Rogers Corporation and UConn, as well as his own painting business.
He was a member of the Manchester Church of Christ for 44 years, as well as volunteering an enormous amount of time to community outreach programs. He was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies Basketball teams, rarely ever missing a game.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to his immediate and extended family. He was always willing to provide his wisdom to those who sought it.
Not only was he a man of faith, but he truly lived by his faith. He will be most fondly remembered for his exceptional sense of humor, support of others, and his infinite kindness and generosity.
In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by his sisters and their spouses, Barbara & Karl Zimmer and Gail & Robert Jarvis. His sons Robert Jr., whom he loved to watch race, and Jeffrey.
His grandchildren Jonah, Andrew, Alexandra, Christoper James, and Josh. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, close friends, neighbors, extended family members, and his furry daughter Izzie.
He is pre-deceased by his twin sister, Roberta (King) Drouin, his sister Shirley (King) Kincaid, and his furry daughter Callie.
He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
I hope that everyone will continue to live by his words:
"I couldn't be any better. The Good Lord gave me another day, and I'm thankful and it's a beautiful day!" - Robert D. King Sr.
