George Thomas “Pete” King, Sr., 85, of Oxford passed away on April 30th, 2025, at Duke Hock Family Pavilion. Mr. King was born on September 17, 1939 in Durham, NC to the late Ilee Lee King and Mary Lou Morris King.
In addition to his parents Mr. King is preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Doris Lee King.
Mr. King is survived by a son, George T. King, Jr. and wife Leesa of Hillsborough, NC; daughter, Rhonda King of Oxford, NC; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Mr. King was a self-employed carpenter for most of his career, but he also worked at Byrd’s BBQ for several years. He loved the Lord and was a longtime member of RTP Community Church. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. Mr. King enjoyed raising chickens, mowing grass on his riding mower, and deep sea fishing aboard the Carolina Princess.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George’s memory to the RTP Community Church, 1727 Ed Cook Rd, Durham, NC. 27703.
A memorial service will be held May 10th at RTP Community Church at 11 o’clock.
