Robert "Bob" Charles Knop, age 85 of Glen Rock died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, after a brave fight with congestive heart failure and leukemia. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY and had been a resident of Glen Rock for the past 57 years. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and master's degree in Business Administration and worked in the aerospace defense industry until he was 76 years old. He was the first person in his family to attend college. He was a lifelong Lutheran and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Glen Rock, serving as the Superintendent of Sunday School and as a council member for many years. Besides his work and faith, Bob was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Giants and the Mets. As loyal as Bob was to his teams, he was even more so a devoted father and husband whose family came first. He made it a point to be there for his children's sporting events, gymnastic meets, musicals, recitals, anything, and everything that was important to them. He coached the Pee Wee League so that his youngest daughter, Judy, could play on the "all boys" team; built a balance beam for his daughter, Sue, so she could practice gymnastics at home; used his engineering prowess to help his son, Bob, build the winning car in the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby, and built a stable for his daughter Lori to house her toy horses. Bob had the kindest of hearts and was extremely generous. He wore his emotions on his sleeve and was quicker to laugh or cry than to anger. He leaves his family with lots of wonderful memories and will be sorely missed.
Robert was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Maggie Knop, his stepsisters, Joyce Platz and Claire Mason, and his brothers-in-law, Richard Harrison, James Jeffers, and Roy Olsen. Surviving is his wife of 12 years, Anazaria Knop, his devoted children, Lori and her husband Chris Herz, Susan and her husband Laurence Barile, Robert M. Knop and his partner Stephen A. Ferry, Jr., Judy Knop; his stepchildren, Annabel and her husband John Ramirez, Jennifer and her husband Norman Elizaga, Oliver Lopez, Jun Lopez and Jenny Ann and her husband Matthew Sullivan. He was the proud grandfather of Kevin and Jeffrey Barile. Bob also leaves his brother Ken Knop and his wife Sally, and many loving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews.
