Robert “Bob” Thomas Koltz, age 68, of Wausau, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Bob was born April 29, 1957 in Wausau. He was the eldest son of Robert J. and Phyllis Koltz. In Bob’s early years, there were many happy memories made camping with the family and neighbors up north. As Bob got older, he was able to join his father and family members on his dad’s side for the big hunting season before Thanksgiving. Hunting became a lifelong passion for Bob, that he was able to share with his brother, Don and their sons, hunting in the northern Minnesota area. In 1971, Bob was one of the early members of the Wausau Story Drum and Bugle Corp, where he played in the drum section. For the next eight years, his summer were filled with playing in parades, many hours of practice and traveling to compete in the Corp shows all over the country. Many happy friendships and memories were made during these years.
After high school, Bob worked at a few different jobs and learned quickly he wanted to start his own business. In the 80’s, Bob moved to the Minneapolis, MN area, where he started a business setting up office cubicles and doing renovations with hard work and long hours, he succeeded for over 30 years.
In July of 1999, Bob married Sue Verick and together, had two sons. They later divorced in 2020.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Phyllis Koltz; brothers, Noel and Kurt Koltz; sister, Kelly Koltz; and nephews, Andy LeGrande and Noel Mark.
Bob is survived by his sons, Robert J. (Stefany) Koltz II and Jacob Koltz; his beautiful granddaughter, Amariah; sisters, Mary Koltz, Holly LeGrande, Peggy Kleiber and Heidi (Ralph) Merwin; his brother, Don Koltz; and many nieces and nephews. During Bob’s last three years of being sick, he was blessed with many wonderful caregivers.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Woodrow Pace will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
