Robert J. Koper of New Cumberland, passed away, February 10, 2022, at home after a brief illness surrounded by his family.
He was born in Weirton WV to the parents of the late John and Nellie (Sczenk) Koper. He was preceded in death by his mother in law Katherine Norman.
Bob had a great love of sports and was a well-known athlete at Weir High School. He received his Bachelor's degree at West Liberty State College and Masters degree in Education from West Virginia University.
Bob worked for many years as a teacher and coach at Chester Junior High and Weir High School. He also retired from Air Product and Chemicals and Arvin Roll Coater. He was a board member of Tomlinson Public Service District for many years.
He is survived by the love of his life for 59 amazing years, Judy Norman Koper. He is also survived by his sister JoAnn Buffo, by his five children; Rob and Tammy Koper, Kim (Koper) and Randy Lancaster, Paul and Tami Koper, Rich Koper and Toni Pastore, Brian and Connie Koper; sister, Jo Ann Buffo; 10 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was the number one supporter of his family's athletic activities and he always looked forward to the yearly family vacation.
Bob has been an enormous presence to all who knew him. His memory will remain.
He will be loved and missed greatly.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester on Tuesday, February 15th at 11:00 am. Father Jeeson Stephan will preside. Private interment will follow at St Paul's cemetery in Weirton. Friends may visit with his family Monday, February 14, 2022, at Arner Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM-8:00PM.
