Robert Ross Lane, Sr., beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 12, 2024 in Hull, Georgia, at the age of 89. Born on July 13, 1935, in Rome, Georgia, Robert lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends.
Robert was a devoted father to his four children: Michael (Amber) Lane, Barbara Binz, Sherry (Scott) Owens, and Melissa (John) Roberts. His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
He is also survived by his loving daughter-in-law, Sherron Lane, who shared in the family’s cherished traditions and memories. Robert was a brother to Karen, Sussie, Ann Smith, and Sharon, and he cherished his relationships with his siblings, Tim Lane, Johnny Lane, and Ronnie Lane.
Robert's life was enriched by the memories shared with his loved ones and the unwavering support of his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Lee Finley Lane, who brought light and happiness into his life. He also mourned the loss of his children, Robert Lane, Jr. and Theresa Nnaji, along with his sister, Rose Lane and brothers, James Lane, Mervin Lane, Paul Lane, Charles Lane, and Richard Lane.
Throughout his life, Robert demonstrated strength, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
