Robert G. Lanigan, a cherished member of the St. Charles community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 93 in St. Charles, Missouri, where he had spent many happy years of his life.

Born on March 7, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, Robert was a proud Irishman whose warm spirit and boundless energy were felt by everyone he met. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that deeply shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty that extended into all areas of his life.

Robert dedicated much of his professional life to Union Electric/Ameren, where he was a respected employee for many years. His commitment to service carried over into his personal life, where he found joy in volunteering at St. Joseph Health Center and actively participating in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He often served as a lector, lending his voice to the community that he cherished.

His passions were many; Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, and most of all spending time with his family—activities that not only brought him joy but also fostered connections with friends and family. A voracious reader, he embraced knowledge and storytelling, sharing tales of his experiences with anyone willing to listen.

Robert’s love for his family was immeasurable. He leaves behind his beloved children: Timothy (Jan) Lanigan, Nancy (Tom) Davis, Lynne (Terry) Wuelling, Carol (Terry) Elmendorf, Michelle Lanigan (Baker), and Michael Lanigan. The legacy of his love continues to flourish through his 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who will remember him not only for his guiding presence but also for the warmth and kindness that radiated from him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lanigan, whose memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of those who knew them as a couple. Robert was also predeceased by his daughter, Janet Lanigan, and his parents, David and Florence Lanigan, son-in-law, Charlie Parks, and a great-grandchild, Chase Ryan Elmendorf, along with another great-grandchild, Ethan Theodore Mersch, and his nine siblings who have now joined him in eternal rest.

Robert G. Lanigan will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his steadfast faith, and the countless moments of joy he brought to those around him. A Mass celebrating his life will be held on October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish, located at 601 N 4th St, St Charles, MO 63301.

As we reflect on Robert's remarkable life, let us carry forward his spirit of compassion, community, and love that he so generously shared with everyone. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of his family and the warmth of cherished memories.
