Robert (Bobby) Laque, of Willis, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, peacefully in his sleep at his home at the age of 86 when our Lord called him home. He was born May 22, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas to parents Juan and Ramona (Suaceda) Laque.
Bobby as he was affectionately known to some, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Juan, and Ramona (Sauceda) Laque, Stepmother Inez (Moreno) Laque, first wife Maria A. (Pena) Laque, second wife Gloria (Puente) Laque, sister-in law Audelia Laque, sons Augustine, Angel, Michael, daughter, Laura, grandson Bryan, brother Juan F. Jr., Baby Boy Laque-still born 1943, and Joe Laque, sisters Odelia, Eloisa, Antonia, Esther, Lydia, Olivia, twin sisters Inez and Irene and Loida.
Robert is survived by his brothers Samuel Laque, Juan A. Jr, Ruben, Joe II, Danny, Abel and David, sisters Josie, Soila, Phebe, and Yvonne, daughters Patricia (Kerry), Therese (David), Ramona (Roger), Leslie (Phil), Roberta and Cynthia, sons Carlos (Norma), Joe (Virginia), Paul, Mark (Roxanne), and Eli. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Robert joined The U.S. Navy-Airforce in 1955. Serving in the Pacific and traveling to Hawaii, Japan, and Hong Kong as an Aviation Ordnanceman and received many awards including the Good Conduct Award in recognition of faithful, zealous, and obedient naval service. Robert was Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1959.
After leaving the U.S. Navy Robert spent time visiting relatives in Arkansas and Illinois working various jobs before settling in La Porte, Texas with his family.
Moving to Houston Robert started his career working for Mitchell Energy and Development in 1968 as a Computer Programmer while going to college at The University of Houston to earn his master's degree in Computer Science, Programming, Data Base Management, and Software Engineering earning him the Title of Senior Systems Analyst.
Robert was a proud member and served as President of the Houston Chapter of The League of United Latin American Citizens.
In his spare time Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, doing maintenance on his cars, golfing and playing softball. Later he purchased a home with two acres in Conroe, Texas where he enjoyed working in his large garden and tending to his chickens, small calf and goat as well as doing repairs around his home.
After retiring he moved back to San Antonio where he purchased a home to be closer to his siblings and other family members. Robert also enjoyed traveling during this time. He lived in San Antonio for 20 years before moving to Willis, Texas to be near his children. To send flowers to the family of Robert, please visit our floral store.
