Robert Larsen Obituary

Robert Louis Larsen Jr, (Bob) was born June 9, 1952. He was born to Robert Louis and Alice May Larsen.

Bob grew up in Logan, Utah. The family was raised on the Boulevard where Bob was a member of the 5th ward and played basketball with many of his high school classmates.

Though he excelled in every sport - football, basketball, track and field, where he set records - Bob was not the stereotypical jock; he also enjoyed playing the saxophone in the Logan High Band and Stage Band.

Bob played football at BYU from 1971-1973 and was a part of the first team that LaVell Edwards coached. Bob was very proud of that and loved Coach Edwards. In 1974, Bob signed with the NFL Miami Dolphins and in 1975 with the Calgary Stampeders.

Bob's Grandpa, Al Larsen, started Al's Sporting Goods and then his father, Big Bob, took over the store. It was during that time that Bob, being an expert and beautiful skier, would demo or test-drive the newest K2's (downhill skis). Reid Cuthbert, one of Bob's best and longtime friends, enjoyed getting in on that adventure with Bob.

Bob was an intellect, a voracious reader, a deep thinker, a lover of the cosmos, a poet, scholar, gentleman, philosopher, and a great storyteller. He could recite Shakespeare along with other colorful (or slightly off-color) ditties, limericks, rhymes, and songs - possibly learned from his Uncle Bob, Grandpa Al, or Big Bob, though who really knows where they came from. Some of the most common ones he'd recite were "Old Ephraim", "Peter Gunn", "King Arthur's Court", and "I Knew a Miss".

Bob was very multifaceted and quite the thespian. He surprised everyone when he starred in, "The Admirable Crighton", at BYU & "Kiss Me Kate (Western Taming of the Shrew)". He truly belonged on stage and on the screen.

He was a true and loyal friend and was always up for an adventure, despite the life-threatening situations Bob, Reid Cuthbert and Richard Durrant were prone to get into. The Three Amigos made many trips to the Navajo Reservation, Shakespeare Festival, California, and Bear Lake to sail his beloved sailboat.

Like Bob's dad and John Wayne, Bob was a gentle giant - his heart was as big as he was. Though a bit of an introvert, he was warm and engaging, sharp-witted, fun, irreverent, and an excellent conversationalist with the best laugh ever.

Bob married Jane Robinson in 1986 and together they had a son, Christopher Robert Larsen (Kelsey). He was also a father to Jenifer Hatch and Shawn William Nye (Amanda). Robert adored his children, and they were very blessed to have him as well. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren: Jared Jr., Jason (Jenifer Hatch), Riley, Taylor, William, Nathan (Shawn William Nye), Jenna, London, Quinn, and Rian (Christopher Robert Larsen).

Bob is survived by Sherry Bullen, Linda Forzani, Tammy Larsen, Jeff Larsen, Kris Larsen (Coreen), and is preceded in death by his parents Big Bob and Alice Larsen and his younger brother Scott Larsen.

Dad - We love you so much and it has been a pleasure loving you and helping you through these last few years. Your mind was your strength, and you were full of knowledge. You now have that wonderful mind to explore and share again. We love you - Jane, Christopher, Jenny and Shawn.
