Robert Eugene (Bobby) Ledford "Sleepy", age 77, of Hiawassee, Georgia and Steinhatchee, Florida, passed away October 21, 2024 at his home in Hiawassee. Bob was born on Upper Bell Creek Road in Hiawassee on January 2, 1947 to J.R. and Wilhelmena Ledford.
During his childhood he moved with his family to Marietta. He attended Sprayberry High School where he participated in his school's football and wrestling teams, and worked part time at the Chick, Chuck and Shake drive-in restaurant, now known as Marietta's famous "Big Chicken".
He married Dollie Mason of Powder Springs, Georgia, and had two daughters, Melessia and Lori. He retired from Lockheed-Marietta. He enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley, and taking his family and friends out fishing on his boat in Steinhatchee. He attended Pine Grove Baptist Church of Hayesville, North Carolina and First Baptist Church of Steinhatchee, Florida. He was saved at a young age by the Grace of our Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. Ledford, and Wilhemena Ledford Jones, and his brother, Gary Lee Ledford. He is survived by his wife, Dollie, daughters, Melessia Croker and Lori Cole, sons-in-law, John Croker and Tony Cole; seven grandchildren Daniel Yarbough, Ryan Croker, Kevin Croker, Kirstie Cole, Parker Cole, Hunter Cole, Carrie Cole, two great grandchildren; Everett Chitwood and Wrenley Chitwood, nephews Chris Melton Joey Ledford, niece Cassie Williams and several cousins survive as well.
