LIMA -- Robert "Bob" M. Leis, 88, passed away on April 21, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born May 18, 1934 in Lima, OH, to Donald "Don" and Kathryn (Ellis) Leis who both preceded him in death. On September 16, 1958 he married Marilyn (Murphy) Leis who preceded him in death on December 13, 2022.
Bob graduated from Lima South High School in 1952. He then was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an armored vehicle mechanic and was honorably discharged after two years of service. He retired in 1995 from Wonder Bread / Hostess Cake as a mechanic. Bob and Marilyn were members of Family of Faith United Methodist Church. Bob and Marilyn also enjoyed their yearly camping trips to Sebring, FL and Indian Lake State Park. Bob loved camping, fishing and traveling. He enjoyed being the lead mechanic for the Leis household fleet and working on his 1949 Harley Davidson. Bob cherished his wife, Marilyn and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his children, Mike (Shanda) Leis of Findlay, OH, Lyle (Lisa) Leis of Lima, OH, Kathy (Patrick) Grine of Fostoria, OH, Bill (Missy) Leis of Harrod, OH, grandchildren, Elizabeth Leis of IN, Ben Leis of Bluffton, OH, Samuel Grine of Bowling Green, OH, Meredith Grine of Fostoria, OH, Mitch Leis of Jacksonville, NC, Kelli Leis of Cleveland, OH, siblings, Betty Wharton of Lima, OH, Jack (Cindy) Leis of Lima, OH.
Bob is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lowell Bradshaw.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Eastside Chapel. Rev. Jeff Ridenour to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service with military rites performed by the Lima VFW Post 1275.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and one hour prior to the service at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Family of Faith United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

I was sad to see this. I enjoyed in helping take care of "Mr.Bob" as I called him at LMH. He was such a sweet man and so kind. My condolences to the family.

Bob and Marilyn were part of our Lake Jo family in Florida. They were both wonderful people. They were loved by all who knew them here

I was lucky enough to meet Bob and take care of him from time to time. Oh, how I enjoyed his stories of Marilyn and Bob's life. He was so kind and considerate and just such a lovely man. I will miss him, dearly.

I was lucky enough to be friends with Bob for over 30 years,He taught me a lot about life and automobile mechanics. but the greatest gift he gave me Was is his joy of life. My condolences to his wonderful family he will be deeply missed.
