Retired from Chicopee Electric light after 26 years, US Navy 22 years serving on the USA Guadalcanal as an E-6 Electricians mate, He was gifted in drawing and loved making homemade clocks. He attended Chicopee Comp, STCC where he was an honor student. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Walter Leja Sr and Jennie (Strzepa), his five brothers Walter Jr, Don Leja, Dennis Leja, Frank Leja and his younger brother John Leja who was his best friend. He is survived by his three sisters, Joyce Gildea of Westfield, Linda Leja ( Paula), Laurie Leja (Remy). But most of all he leaves his former wife Brenda Leja and their three children Robert Leja Jr, Daniel Leja and Ashley Cherenov and six grandchildren who brought him a lot of joy, Mackenzie, Eden, Elise, Robert III, Adele and Konstantin.
