Robert Anthony Lightsey

Chesapeake - Robert Anthony Lightsey, born on August 25, 1944, in Virginia, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 6, 2025, in Chesapeake, VA.
Robert was a man of remarkable character and unwavering dedication to his family and country. Born in Virginia, he moved to Florida early in life, where he spent many years before returning to Virginia to live out his days with his devoted wife.
A proud veteran, Robert served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a telephone technician in the telecommunications industry, where he contributed his skills and expertise in various roles.
His love for football was unmatched, especially his passion for the Miami Dolphins. More than anything, Robert cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Odis and Ellen (Tarr) Lightsey. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Cathy Lightsey; his daughter, Amber Lightsey; his stepson, Nathan Hoffman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Numerous other family members and friends will also miss him dearly.
In accordance with Robert's wishes, no services are planned at this time. His remains will be cremated and scattered as he desired.
