Robert G. "Cobby" Linn, 87, of Rockford, Ohio died Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Rita's in Lima, Ohio. He was born May 27, 1937 in Rockford and was the son of the late Otto and Norah (Stover) Linn.
Bob graduated from Rockford High School in 1955. On April 3, 1965 he married the former Beatrice Baucher who survives.
Along with working on the family farm, he was employed as a tool grinder at International Harvester (now Navistar). Bob initially worked in the Fort Wayne plant, but went on to work at their Indianapolis location until retirement in 1989. He also served in the National Guard for six years. After retirement he went back to work for International Harvester, to provide his expertise, as needed. Bob also did several other odd jobs after retirement. Once retired, he enjoyed having coffee and donuts at T. J.'s every morning.
When not working, Bob loved sprint car racing. He enjoyed going to Eldora to watch the races. He also liked playing cards and going to casinos, as well as going on bus trips with his wife and friends. But his favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Karla (Clay) Erman of Delphos, Ohio, and Kristi (Steven) Schaefer of St. Anthony, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Joyce Linn of Ohio City, Ohio; six grandchildren, Derrick (Katie) Erman, Brenton (Jacqueline Tyler) Erman, Kylie Linn, Emily Schaefer, Jordyn Schaefer, and Lanae Schaefer; four step-grandchildren, Patrick (Tosha) Schaefer, James (Kelley) Schaefer, Will (Kumiko) Schaefer, and Ellen Schaefer; one great granddaughter, Emersyn Erman; and five step great granddaughters.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Edwin Linn; sisters, Ethel Longsworth, Alice Bruns, and Janet Heureaux; brothers, Herman Linn, Gene Linn, and Paul Linn; and four infant siblings.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home, 111 West First Street, Rockford, Ohio 45882. Friends may also call from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Monday morning, April 14, 2025, at Rockford United Methodist Church, 202 South Franklin Street, Rockford, Ohio 45882.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday April 14, 2025 at Rockford United Methodist Church, 202 South Franklin Street, Rockford, Ohio 45882 with Pastor Bill Halter officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 3750 US-33, Rockford, Ohio 45882.
Memorial contributions in Bob's honor may be made to Rockford United Methodist Church, 202 South Franklin Street, Rockford, Ohio 45882, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
