Robert Bishop Linson Robert Bishop Linson "Rob", age 57, musician, cytogeneticist, attorney, pastor, and he of very dry wit, passed away peacefully at Beaumont Royal Oak hospital on October 20, 2023, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Rob grew up in Seymour, Indiana where he attended Seymour High School, and excelled playing tennis and the French Horn. He went on to study microbiology at Indiana University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. While at IU, he was a proud 4 year member of the Marching Hundred, and pep band. His career path as a cytogeneticist began in Houston, and after spending a few years in the sweltering heat and humidity, he moved to the Detroit area in the mid '90s and took a position with the Beaumont Health system, where he would ultimately stay.

Seeking new challenges and a possible career change, Rob put himself through law school, graduating from Detroit Mercy Law School in 2001, while continuing to work at the lab. During his time in Law School, he also became very active in the Wesleyan Church, in Wayne Michigan, where he was the assistant pastor in the New Beginnings Church. After much hard work and study over the next 10 years, Rob was ordained as a Pastor in 2015.

He loved his cat, doing DIY projects around his house, helping his neighbors and looked forward to his weekend visits to his local greasy spoon, Dix Coney Island.

In addition to his numerous travels by train, he traveled out of state whenever he could to see his brothers' families and attended multiple activities that his nieces and nephews all participated in.

He is survived by his parents, Kay Linson of Houston, and Jack Linson of Indianapolis, his brothers David (Lisa) and Philip (Staci), and his nieces / nephews, Adam, Alexis, Josephine, Davis and Elizabeth.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9 from 12 noon until time of memorial service 1 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak.
