Robert Edward Litwiniec

May 4, 1949 – January 13, 2026

Robert "Bob" Edward Litwiniec, 76, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away

in Warner Hospice Center peacefully on January 13, 2026, with his sister Gayle

holding his hand. Born on May 4, 1949, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton,

Pennsylvania, he was the eldest son of Edward and Gertrude "Gaylea" Litwiniec of

Old Forge, Pennsylvania.

Bob was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Bob lived in California,

Colorado, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida in his lifetime. He spent his life

exemplifying hard work, dedication, and kindness. After graduating from high

school in Havertown, Pennsylvania, he earned his Education and History degree

from St. Joseph's University and later his master's in education from Widener

University in Delaware.

Bob began his professional career with Burroughs Corporation, which later

became Unisys. Upon completing his master's degree, he pursued his true calling

in education, teaching at Penn-Wynn Montessori School. There, he worked

alongside his wife, Maureen Tancredi Litwiniec, who owned and operated the

Penn-Wynn Children's House in Penn-Wynn, Pennsylvania, for 30 years until their

retirement. He and Maureen were married for 45 years before her passing,

sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and partnership both at home and at work.

Throughout his life, Bob was admired for his gentle spirit, steady patience, and

quiet sense of humor. He approached every endeavor, whether in the classroom,

at home, or in the community, with integrity and compassion. Bob found joy in

simple pleasures: reading, history, long walks by the ocean, and meaningful time

spent with family and friends. Bob had no enemies- he was loved by all.

Bob loved playing his original old vinyl records on his record player and dancing

with his wife in their living room. He loved listening to WXPN and Philadelphia

College Radio, was an avid supporter of PBS radio, and had a lifelong appreciation

for Indie music and emerging artists. These moments of music and movement

brought him deep happiness and reflected his love for life's simple joys.

Bob and Maureen also owned a beautiful duplex in North Wildwood, just a block

from the beach. They treasured sitting on the porch with a cocktail in hand,

watching people pass by, waving to friends and strangers alike, and getting to

know the many visitors who, over time, became dear and lasting friends. Those

summers were filled with laughter, community, and contentment by the sea.

After retirement, Bob and Maureen moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida, on

Amelia Island, where in 2005 they built a welcoming home that quickly became

a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and storytelling. Bob cherished his role

as a mentor and friend to many, always offering encouragement and perspective

drawn from his years of experience and wisdom.

Bob is survived by his sister, Gayle Litwiniec-Sauers of Fernandina Beach, Florida,

and West Chester, Pennsylvania; his brother, J. Leonard Litwiniec; and his wife,

Rose, of DeLeon Springs, Florida; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Tancredi,Jr., and

his wife, Susan, of Havertown, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Cole and Brody Tancredi; Michael and

Kristianne Racelis; John (C.J.) Sauers; Melissa Litwiniec-Cox; Melinda

Thompson; Matthew Litwiniec; and Leah Litwiniec Borque. Bob was also

blessed with great-nieces and nephews-Kaili Racelis, Nicholas Racelis, Alyssa

Vega, Adam Parker, Dallas Thompson, Gavin Thompson, Bradley Thompson,

Carson Thompson, Savannah Cox, Lily Cox, Olivia Litwiniec, and Weston

Litwiniec-and two great-great-nephews, River and Rowan Vega.

Bob is also survived by his first wife, Maureen Miller, of Honeybrook,

Pennsylvania, whom he continued to consider a dear friend even after their

divorce.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude "Gaylea" Hatala

Litwiniec, and his beloved wife of 45 years, Maureen Tancredi Litwiniec.

Bob's cremated remains will be celebrated in a private memorial service at a

time and place to be determined in the future. Bob never wanted a fuss to be made

over his death; instead, he wished for people to remember him with a smile on his

face and a joke on his lips.

Bob deeply admired and supported the VFW and American Legion, donating

regularly to honor his father, who served in the Navy Submarine Service. He

would be honored if others continued to support these organizations and the

brave men and women who defend the United States of America and the freedoms

he cherished. If you wish, raise a Bourbon Manhattan in his honor-just as he would

have preferred, surrounded by friendship, laughter, and love.
