Robert Lopez Obituary
Roberto lived a life uprooted in services, faith, and family. He was a proud graduate of Mission High School (1961), Pan American University (1967), Border Patrol Academy (1976), and continued his education through graduate studies at Pan American University (1974-1976). Through his career, Roberto served his community with dedication as a Border Patrol Supervisor, educator, coach, and Mission volunteer firefighter.
A patriot at heart, Roberto honorably served in the United States Navy (1967-1971) as a Vietnam veteran and later in the United States Naval Reserve as a Boatswain's Mate First Class (1965-2003). His faith guided much of his life, and he was deeply involved in the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 3rd Degree Grand Knight (Council 2698) and 4th Degree Faithful Navigator (Bishop Garriaga General Assembly #1111). He also gave his time and leadership to the American Legion as a trustee and Honor Guard member, and to the Catholic War Veterans as a trustee and Third Vice Commander.
Above all, Roberto was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife Rosa M. Lopez; children: Monica M. Moya, Marla L. (Adam) Skretta, Roberto S. Lopez, Jr. (Jen White); grandchildren: Eddie R. Valdez, Evan H. Valdez, Ethan A. Valdez, Mariah M. Moya, Marco E. Moya, Nico F. Lopez; and siblings: Guillermo M. (Toni) Lopez and sisters in-law Elia Lopez and Tilly Lopez who will still remember him for his strength, humor, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved and served.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Our Lady at Guadalupe Church in Mission at 10am.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery - Mausoleum in McAllen.
~Robert's ship is ready to sail with fair winds and following seas.

I remember when my mom died, he and his wife were of great service and support to our family. Service is one of the characteristics of all brother Knights of Columbus members. May God grant him his eternal reward and comfort to his loving family during their time of grief.
