CHARLOTTE - On Thursday, September 14, 2023, Mr. Robert Maynard “Bobby” Keelyn, 67, passed away at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Main in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Bobby was born January 20, 1956, in Stanly County, NC and was a son of the late Robert Jeff Keelyn and the late Myrtle Mae Brewer Keelyn. His family moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC, where he and his sisters grew up. He was a graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School.
As a young boy, he realized he needed a job to earn money, he worked selling ice cream, and lifeguarding at the beach and sweeping floors in the arcades. It was his involvement and hanging around the arcades that he developed an interest in gaming machines. He then had a long and successful career in sales and service of gaming machines in North and South Carolina.
Cherry Grove at North Myrtle Beach was an important part of his life. He also enjoyed his time spent at Key West. He loved the beach, camping, traveling, listening to music, his Faith in the Lord, as well as, his many treasured friendships.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Megan Ryan Toomey and husband, Daniel of Toms River, NJ and Nicholas Robert Keelyn of charlotte; his sister, Susan Keelyn of Charlotte and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Keelyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Fund, c/o Robert Burr, 1287 Dickie Little Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
