Robert Marburger, of Sabula, Iowa, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. A private family service will be held.
Robert was born on April 27, 1944, the son of Edward and Alberta (Boock) Marburger. He grew up in Sabula, attending local schools and graduating from Sabula High School. Everyone around town knew him as “Boober” from a young age. After high school, Robert trained to become a mechanic. He returned to Sabula and worked at the Sabula Service Station, eventually becoming its owner and operator for 15 years. Robert married Mary Berry, and together they raised three children. They shared many years of marriage until Mary’s passing in 1990. Robert enjoyed life on his own terms and valued time spent with friends and family.
He is survived by three grandchildren: Sara Marburger, Matthew Marburger, and Mary Marburger; and by his siblings: Bonnie House of Manchester, IA, Gary (Penny) Marburger of Ottumwa, IA, Thomas (Sandy) Marburger of Davenport, IA, and Ronald (Janet) Marburger of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his children, Stacy, Christine, and Robert Jr.; his parents; and three siblings, John, Barbara, and Richard “Ike.”
