Robert William Marmara

Robert William Marmara, age 77, of Rockaway Borough, New Jersey, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York Bob was a resident of Rockaway Borough for 51 years and a parishioner of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church. Bob was employed as a chemical engineer with Exxon Chemicals for over 30 years and continued his career at Norton Engineering Consultants until his retirement.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and was the handyman around the house. He was an avid reader of history books and could often be found watching the NY Yankees in his recliner. He loved a good challenge, especially a tricky brain teaser, crossword, or Sudoku puzzle, and never turned down a nice glass of scotch. Most importantly, Bob loved his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and other activities. In former years, Bob coached his children through the Rockaway Borough sports programs.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Marmara.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosalie Marmara; four children, Christine Cerenzio (Brian), Rob Marmara (Dariana), Tom Marmara (Erin), and Kathryn Kutepow (Adam); his sister-in-law, Carol Marmara; and his seven grandchildren, Brett, Jordan, Alex, Katelyn, Brooklyn, Lauren, and Kelsey; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway NJ 07866. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Rockaway.
