Robert Marra Obituary

Robert Marra
December 17, 1938 - May 17, 2025
Robert Marra, 86, of Guilford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. Robert was born in New Haven, Connecticut, the third son of the late Frederick Marra and Adelaide Canetti Marra. Robert grew up in West Haven and attended West Haven High School, where he played football and baseball. After graduation, he attended the University of Bridgeport, earning an associate's degree, then he served for four years in the United States Air Force.
In 1966, Robert married Carol Serfilippi. Together they raised three children, Nicole, Christopher and Lauren, in Guilford. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together and were blessed with two grandchildren, Jonathan and Gabriel. Robert was devoted to his family and spent much of his free time with them. He was also an avid golfer and huge fan of the New York Yankees and Giants, as well as the UCONN Huskies
In 1978, Robert opened Marra's Italian Food Shop and Deli in downtown Branford. After that, he opened Marra's Cherry Hill Inn in Branford. He was active in both the Guilford and Branford communities and was a long-time member of the Lion's Club. After his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for the town of Guilford, first at Guilford Lakes Golf Course and then at the Guilford Stump Dump.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Nicole Casiero, her husband, Mark, and their son, Gabriel; his son, Christopher, his wife, Carolyn, and their son, Jonathan; his daughter, Lauren; his sisters-in-law, Donna Hodge and Karen Marra; and his 7 nieces and nephews and their families, who lovingly called him Uncle Bobby.
A Mass in his honor will be held Wednesday, June 18th, at 10:00 am at St. George Church in Guilford, CT, with a reception in the church hall to follow.

Uncle Bobby was one of a kind, he always had a smile and a joke to go with it! He is missed always at our family gatherings! Godspeed Uncle Bobby, even if you weren´t my uncle through marriage I always considered you my uncle

My deepest condolences to the entire family. I instantly became close friends with Bob at Solstice. We both worked at the Guilford Golf Course after retirement, doing the same job, and disliking it for the same reasons! We also knew several folks at SNET. In the short time I knew Bob, I became good friends with Chris and Nicole. We had lots of good laughs about the old days; I will deeply miss him. May he rest in God's peace. Paul

Nicole, Chris and Lauren, We are saddened to hear of your dad's passing. He and your mom were our dear friends for many years and they are both missed. Having learned of his passing just a few hours ago, we will be unable to attend his service but they will remain in our hearts forever. We will have a tree planted in his memory. Love Joyce and Kevin

Bob and I became instant friends when we met at our retirement community. We shared many great memories about West Haven, New Haven, Branford, his catering and restaurant business and our work at the Guilford golf course. I will sorely miss him. Paul

So sorry to learn about Bob.
He and I grew up in the same part of West Haven and attended the same schools.
We were in the WHHS class of 1956
