Robert J. Marsh

Robert J. Marsh, 94 of Sterling died Wednesday September 9, 2015 at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 16, 1921 in Marshalltown, IA the son of James A. and Bertha M. (Burdge) Marsh. He married Dorothy M. Funk on May 2, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army from September 25, 1942 until March 5, 1946. Bob worked at the former S.W. Naylor and Co in Rock Falls for 27 years as a mechanic and then worked at Stoker Trucking in Fulton before retiring. He was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Sterling; past member and president of the Early Riser CB club. He enjoyed working on antique John Deere tractors and doing woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his son Dennis (Dona) Marsh of Rock Falls; three sisters: Lois Miles of Sterling, Frances Dersham of Erie and Phyllis Stern of Sterling; two grandchildren: Andrew (Desiree) Marsh and Amy (Amar) Gurung; six great grandchildren: Alissa and Kelsey Marsh, Samir and Kalden Gurung, Nolan and Kenzie Yocum; one great great grandchild, Brena Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Walter in infancy; three sisters: Dorothy Eberly, Clara Wuebben and Ruth Frankfother.
