SCHENECTADY – Robert “Bobby” Matarazzo, 76, a lifelong resident of Schenectady, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Louis and Antoinette (Ciccarelli) Matarazzo. Bobby graduated from Linton High School and worked for Adirondack Beverage and later for the City of Schenectady in the Parks and Recreation Department, before beginning a long career with Schenectady County—first at the county jail and then in the maintenance department.
A familiar face in downtown Schenectady, Bobby could often be found walking through the city or working out at the downtown YMCA. He loved dining out; his favorite dinner was Paulie’s Chicken Parm. He treasured the time he spent with his family, who remained a constant source of care, companionship, and support throughout his life, as well as his good childhood friends, Chippie and Allen.
Bobby’s family would like to thank the Hendrickson family and the Teresian House for their stewardship, compassion and care throughout Bobby’s life.
Bobby was predeceased by his devoted parents and many loving aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving cousins, Stephen Buonome, Janice (William) Fellner, Athena (Andrew) McAllister and Ralph (Michelle) Buonome and their families and cousins.
Services will be held on Tuesday, at 10 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Anthony’s Church. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9 to10 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church.
