Mr. Robert Stephen (Steve) McClain, age 73, of Dalton, passed away September 20, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 25, 1951 in Dalton, GA, and was a member of South Dalton Baptist Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Dalton High School and a member of the "Greatest Band in Dixie," which was awarded to the Dalton High Marching Band. His career began in the carpet industry, where he was employed by E.T. Barwick Co. and Coronet Carpets. He relocated with his family to Pikeville, KY, to begin "The Carpet Mine" floor covering business with his Dad and brother.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Neatha (Smith) McClain, and his father, Robert(Bob) McClain.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Matt and Savanna McClain of Dalton; one daughter, Brittany McClain and special friend Dolly Tucker of Dalton; mother, Colleen McClain of Dalton; sister Dayna Smith of Dalton and fiancé Michael Mayer of TenMile, TN, brother Kevin(Angela) of Pikeville, KY; grandchildren Hannah Brown and Hailey Hillburn; Baylee and Araibella Tucker; great-grandchildren Eli Brown, Leo and Kai Muder; granddogs Maka and Jackson; ; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be on Thursday, September 25, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Darey Kittle officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am till the funeral hour.
